Drone Attack Sparks Deadly Blaze at Russian Port Facility
Governor Veniamin Kondratyev said three other people were injured during the overnight attacks, adding that emergency responders and specialized teams remained at the site working to contain and extinguish the fire.
“Emergency and special services continue to work at the scene” to extinguish the fire at the sea terminal, he said.
According to Ukrainian statements, the operation targeted the Tamanneftogaz oil and gas terminal in Krasnodar. Ukrainian security officials said drones hit five petroleum storage tanks within the facility and also struck two oil-loading structures used for fuel shipments.
Reports from Ukraine described the terminal as the largest hub for transshipping liquefied hydrocarbons in southern Russia.
In a separate incident, authorities in Russia’s Volgograd region reported a fire at an industrial site after debris from downed drones fell onto the facility. The regional administration cited Governor Andrei Bocharov in confirming the damage.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s General Staff said its forces had also targeted an oil-related infrastructure site near the town of Kotovo in the Volgograd region.
